New edition of “Family Law”

In the five years that passed from the previous (second) edition of the book, Family Law has undergone numerous legislative interventions.
The first one concerns consensual divorce and the amendments that were introduced by law 4509/2017.
The second area in which there have been significant legislative developments is the law of parental responsibility, which was significantly reformed by law 4800/2021.
Furthermore, regulations of interest to Family Law were also incorporated in other statutes, such as law no. 4538/2018 which included regulations on the institution of fostering a minor, and the procedure preceding the adoption, and established special registers for minors and prospective adoptive and foster parents. In addition, the very recent law 4934/2022 introduced the possibility of an “intangible” consensual dissolution of civil partnership along the lines of consensual divorce. The mandatory initial mediation session of law 4640/2019 also applies to several of the Family Law lawsuits. Another innovation of the present edition is the extensive incorporation into the textbook of the rich case law relating to Family Law.
Finally, the present edition of the book attempts for the first time to record the rules governing the so-called free union, i.e. cohabitation outside marriage without a cohabitation agreement. This was considered appropriate, not only because such a chapter is usually absent from Family Law textbooks, but also in view of the mobility that has been observed in this field in recent years.
The above content makes this the most up-to-date and complete work in the field of Family Law, with a systematic and comprehensible structure, addressed to judges, lawyers and all scholars of Family Law.
